Workshop Results

These projects explore how climate discourse is shaped by both human communication and algorithmic systems. From hashtags and posting strategies to large-scale image analysis, they reveal how platforms classify, filter, and frame climate content. Together, the works expose the invisible mechanisms behind digital visibility and offer a critical perspective on how climate narratives are constructed today.

Hue of Crisis
A Group of People Standing Workshop Project
Hue of Crisis examines how the climate crisis is represented in images from online news media. Based on an extensive dataset of climate-related visuals, the project analyzes patterns across color, time, location, and image content. An interactive interface enables filtering and exploration of the data, allowing both an overview of broader trends and close inspection of individual images. Through this approach, the project reveals visual patterns and underlying structures in how climate narratives are constructed and communicated.
